DETERMINATION OF PROXIMATE, MINERAL AND AMINO ACID COMPOSITIONS OF THE MESOCARP AND SEED OF ALMOND PLANT
ABSTRACT
The phytochemical and mineral compositions of selected vegetables in Minna metropolis were investigated using standard procedures. The results of the analysis showed that the concentrations of the secondary metabolites in the selected vegetables were as follows: alkaloids (4.00±2.00 to 9.33±4.16mg/100g), flavonoids (40.00±20.00 to 73.33±11.55 mg/100g), tannins (14.67±4.16 to 33.33±1.53 mg/100g), saponins (4.67±3.06 to 8.00±2.00 mg/100g), Phytates (7.56±4.36 to 68.83±17.47 mg/100g) and oxalate (19.65±0.08 to 34.39±0.28 mg/100g). B. oleracea had the highest amount of alkaloids (9.33±4.16mg/100g) while L.sativa…

ABSTRACT
For adsorbing Pb and Cr ions from wastewater was studied. Equilibrium adsorption and pseudo-first and second order kinetic studies were carried out. The effects of contact time, solution p, adsorbent dosage and temperature was also investigated and the results showed that the contact time required to reach equilibrium on Pb and Cr adsorption was 90minsH. Maximum percentage adsorption of 84.7% was attained for Pb and 71.2% was attained for Cr. The adsorption process was found to follow…

ASSESSMENT OF TRACE METALS AND ESSENTIAL MINERALS IN SOME MEDICINAL HERBS IN MINNA, NIGER STATE, NIGERIA
ABSTRACT
The Concentrations of Heavy Metals in Selected Vegetables along Landzun River of Bida, Niger State were determined in order to establish the levels of contamination. The Vegetables samples (African Spinach, Jute mallow and Pumpkin) were analyzed for Cd, Cr, Mn, Ni and Pb using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS).With the exception of Cr and Pb, the contents of Mn, Cd and Ni were high in most of the samples analyzed when compared to the WHO/FAO standard hence may…

Abstract:
In this era of global warming, research in weather measurement and predictions are becoming more and more pertinent; getting the latest weather forecast and taking the necessary precautions have become a major issue all over the world. This research demonstrates the design and implementation of a weather monitoring system using an Arduino Mega 2560 microcontroller and some modern reliable sensors with a real time data logger and LCD. The designed weather monitoring system is advantageous in terms…

ü Wood is a hard fibrous structural tissue found in the stems, roots of trees and other plants..
ü It is an organic material, a natural composite of cellulose fibres (which are strong in tension) embedded in a matrix of lignin which resists compression.
ü Despite the many human uses to which various woods are suited, at a fundamental level, wood is a complex biological structure, a composite of many chemistries and cell types acting together to serve the…

This study examines the dynamic compression and thermo-physical properties of some particulate materials for device fabrication and utilisation obtained from Akure South Local Government Area, Ondo State, South Western Nigeria. These wood particles are of the species of Celtis zenkeri and Celtis phillipensis of the family of Ulmaceae. The samples were processed into different particle sizes (300, 600 and 850 ?m) and subjected to varied compacting pressure. The density and specific heat capacity of the…

Abstract.
Presently, the effects of electric and magnetic fields from high voltage transmission power lines have become a subject of scientific discord. These fields are higher close to the power lines and fall with distance. Magnetic fields vary as the load on the power lines changes whereas electric fields stay approximately constant. Electric and magnetic fields from power lines generate enormous values of extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields. This research gives an analysis of the electromagnetic fields…

This research work attempts to verify newton’s law of cooling using temperature of human palm and ambient temperature of Akure, Southwestern Nigeria as case study. The two temperature were measured hourly for three days, 8th, 9th and 10th Julian day of 2016. The initial local conditions measured were used to obtain solution for the Newton’s equations for both rising and falling temperature. The results obtained shows that newton’s equation predicts temperature more accurately for falling temperature…

Magnetron sputtering was employed to deposit 0.5 µm of chromium (Cr) film on a sintered NdFeB–based magnet. The corrosion performance of the Cr–coated magnet was analyzed, compared with an uncoated magnet, in 3.5% NaCl solution. Potentiodynamic polarization analysis revealed that the Cr film could shift the corrosion potential more positively and reduced the anodic dissolution of the magnet in the 3.5% NaCl solution. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy further showed that the Cr film could increase the charge transfer…

INTRODUCTION
The aim of this work is to carry out electronic and optical properties calculations of pure and doped anatase TiO2 in order to explore the potential of the material for photovoltaic application.
Kernel density estimation is an important smoothing technique with direct applications such as data exploratory analysis and data visualisation. This review summarizes the most important theoretical aspects of kernel density estimation and provides a description of classical methods for computing the smoothing parameter. The performance of the kernel estimator will be considered based on the classical methods of obtaining the smoothing parameter and this will be fully illustrated by real data examples
Environmental contamination by heavy metals has become an issue of concern in recent times.
? Heavy metal refers to any metallic element whose density is relatively high and is toxic even at low concentration ( Lenntech, 2004).
? Heavy metals are major environmental contaminants after pesticide residues ( Yu et al., 2017 ).
? Toxicity of heavy metals results from their redistribution from non-toxic geochemical state to the surface of the earth (Sayyed, and Sayadi, 2011).
? Heavy…

Prison conditions and long duration in custody of awaiting trial persons(ATPs)is a common problem in several countries of the world. In this work we analyzed data of ATPs in Medium Security prison Auchi, in Edo State, Nigeria. Our study reveal cases of persons who have stayed long in custody awaiting trial for more than 10 years. We make some recommendations on how to reduce the duration of stay in prison for ATPs. In this work, we organize and…

The combined effects of thermal radiation, temperature dependent viscosity (Reynolds model), Hall effects and magnetic field on a steady chemically reacting third grade fluid flow through uniformly circular pipe is studied. The governing equations are presented and the resulting nonlinear equation are solved analytically using Adomian Decomposition Method. A parametric study of important parameters involved is conducted with graphical representation of the results. Our investigation thus reveals that the viscosity, chemical and to a small extent the Hall parameter enhance…

INTRODUCTION
Power management: maximizing battery power by switching the system to low-power state when they are in active
A sensor is a device that responds to a stimulus, such as heat, light or pressure, and generates a signal that can be measured or interpreted
The main purpose of sensor networks is to monitor an area, including detecting, identifying, localising and tracking one or more objects of interest.
Typhoid fever is a life- threatening illness caused by the bacterium Salmonella Typhi. Both ill persons and carriers shed salmonella Typhi in faeces (stool). You can get typhoid fever by eating or drinking food or water contaminated with Salmonella Typhi. These bacteria are shed in the stool and urine of infected people (Watson,1967).
