Owing to the uncertain nature of energy from renewable sources like solar and wind, electric power generated from these sources are highly unreliable and may upset both the power quality and planning of power systems insignificantly in the short time and significantly on the long run. Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and other methods of storing electrical energy will surely play a substantial role in renewable energy applications by a way of integrating it to the grid system for its optimization and improved efficiency of overall grid system. Power plants output and provisions of auxiliary needs to the power system and hence, permitting an improved penetration of power from renewable sources into the grid system is the core objective of this article. Conclusively, the study established after extensive review of some available literatures; the operating ethics, and hence the performance of the main characteristics of energy storage technologies appropriate for immobile applications, and the description and discussion of possible energy storage systems (ESSs) applications in renewable sources integration to the grid system.
