Abstract

The interest of this work was aroused by the perception of workers’ wrong attitude towards female executives in Nigerian organizations.  Considering the fact that female executives are not adequately represented in firms, it became imperative that organizations where females are in management positions should be looked into and suggestions made for the right attitude by workers to female executives to bring out the best in them in the performance of their jobs.  This assignment, therefore, is undertaken to appraise the workers’ attitude towards female executives, and how to curb or eliminate any negative attitude towards female executives. To this end, there is some random sampling of some big organizations: Banks, and few one-man business outfits to represent construction, sales, services and manufacturing.  To collect data for this assignment, consultation was made from existing materials on the subject as well as personal interviews from some selected staff of the above mentioned organizations in Port Harcourt. Based on the responses and data collected, conclusion was drawn that neither variations in work places, gender nor female executives themselves influence workers attitude towards female executives, rather what determined the nature of workers’ attitude towards female executives is the workers’ position (lower and middle management levels) in the organization.  Therefore, adequate representations; organizational culture; the right job at the right place’ some organizations to take a leave from others’ objection to indiscriminate criticisms and training for all workers are recommended to put in place.
