Lecture Note

The major purpose of this course is to provide a broad overview of the nature of inquiry and explanation in political science. The course is basically a study of the concept, assumptions, objectives and issues in political analysis; ways of acquiring knowledge; approaches and models of political analysis; theories of political analysis; the emergence of behaviouralism as an approach to the study of politics including its origin; the scientific method; the nature of politics; Political Systems and the structure of government; political representation e.g. direct democracy, theory of mandate, representative institutions of different regimes and regime types; Political communication; violence, political alienation; citizen participation and political culture, etc.
